The Founding Assembly of the Association and a Round Table were held at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo. Professor Heike Raphael-Hernandez (University of Würzburg) delivered a lecture entitled   ‘To Bond with One, to Dump the Other: Racial Triangulations, African America, and Global South Immigrant Communities in Contemporary U.S. Films’.

The American Studies Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina wishes to acknowledge the support of the NIRSA Center (University of Sarajevo) and the Embassy of the United States, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Professor Heike Raphael-Hernandez, Professor of English, University of Maryland University College, Europe, and Interim Professor of American Cultural Studies, University of Würzburg, Germany. Professor Raphael-Hernandez is one of the leading American Studies scholars in Europe to date, well published, widely acknowledged and highly awarded, who also contributed with her expertise as member of various world associations, including ASA (American Studies Association); MLA (Modern Language Association of America); MELUS (Society for the Study of Multi-Ethnic Literature of the US); MESEA (Multi-Ethnic Studies: Europe and the Americas); EAAS (European Association for American Studies), and others.
